Privacy Policy

Kitakits (“we”, “us”) is a web platform for the Philippine motorcycle riding community at kitakits.ph. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and the choices you have. We handle personal data in line with the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173).

Information we collect

• Account details: email address and password (managed by our authentication provider), or your name and email if you sign in with Google.
• Profile details: first and last name, date of birth (we require riders to be 18 or older), mobile number, and the rider interests you pick.
• Optional riding profile:motorcycle type and model, riding experience, and an emergency contact’s name and number.
• Content you create: events, rides, routes, banner images, RSVPs, and ride participation (including an optional meet point).
• Marketing consent: whether and when you opted in to receive promotional messages.
• Technical data: basic logs and cookies needed to keep you signed in and the site working.

How we use it

• To create and secure your account and let you sign in.
• To run the service: publish events and rides, handle RSVPs and waitlists, and show participant lists.
• To send service emails such as RSVP confirmations and waitlist updates.
• If you opted in, to send you emails about riding-related news and offers matched to your interests. You can withdraw consent at any time from your profile.
• To moderate the platform and prevent abuse.

What other riders can see

Public events and rides are visible to anyone. On ride pages, other people see only the first names of riders who joined or marked “maybe”. Event organizers can see the email addresses of people who RSVP to their events. Your date of birth, mobile number, and emergency contact are never shown publicly.

Google sign-in

If you choose “Continue with Google”, we receive your name, email address, and Google account identifier to create your account. We use this information only to sign you in and operate your account. We do not use Google user data for advertising, and we do not sell it or share it except with the service providers listed below.

Service providers

We rely on these providers to run Kitakits, and they process data on our behalf:

• Supabase: authentication, database, and file storage.
• Vercel: website hosting.
• Resend: sending emails.
• OpenStreetMap (Nominatim) and OpenRouteService: location search and route calculation. Place names and coordinates you search for or place on a map are sent to them.
• Google: sign-in, if you choose to use it.

These providers may store data on servers outside the Philippines. We do not sell your personal information.

Retention and deletion

We keep your information while your account is active. You can delete your account from your profile. Your account is then closed immediately and permanently deleted after 30 days. Events and rides you created stay on the platform without an organizer. If you want your content removed too, contact us at the address below before or after deleting your account.

Your rights

Under the Data Privacy Act you may ask to access, correct, or delete your personal data, object to or withdraw consent for processing, and file a complaint with the National Privacy Commission. You can edit most details on your profile; for anything else, email us.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.

Children

Kitakits is for riders aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes

We may update this policy. The date above shows when it last changed; continued use of Kitakits after an update means you accept it.
